4. How many boxes do we need?

The logistics of box delivery can be a real source of angst for librarians who have no control over delivery drivers’ schedules or priorities. Their hearts are in the right place, of course; they want to offer high-quality programming without having to worry over a truck’s flat tire or a driver who called in sick. Because of this, when I developed the storytime box logistics for SJPL, it was a priority to ensure that every branch had a backup box as well as the box they planned to use that week. We had 19 locations (18 branches and a main library with a very busy children’s room), so we planned on a total of 38 boxes plus two spares, and built 40 boxes.
